Community Living Done Right

Welcome to Sound Sea Village

SSVHOA manages the 102 member properties within the Community located between Sound Sea Ave and Ocean Bay Boulevard from the Currituck Sound to the Atlantic Ocean.  We welcome guests to our family oriented community that preserves the natural environment and beauty of the Northern Outer Banks.

Sound Sea Village began over 70 years ago when Paul Herron, a reporter and editor at the Washington Post was covering the crime beat and met Walter Perry, a DC police detective. Their friendship endured and continued after Walter’s retirement in 1947. When Walter began developing Sound Sea Village in the mid-fifties, the Herron family’s love affair with the area began. All sorts of unusual, local foods were cooked.  If you could kill it, Walter would cook it.  Of course, it was not necessary to wait for the "cocktail hour" since you could get a drink anytime of day.

This is just a snippet of the stories you can hear about the rich history of Sound Sea Village just by walking and interacting with the neighbors. Many of them are descendants of the original owners and many of them have colorful stories or memories they can share on a lazy afternoon with a cold beverage.

We hope you create your own colorful memories at Sound sea Village that will live for next generations!
